Flight of Stairs Scarf

Striking and geometric, the Flight of Stairs Scarf is worked in the Overlay Mosaic Crochet technique using just two contrasting solid colors — one per row. The bold stair-step pattern creates a graphic, modern look that’s surprisingly easy to achieve, and the fringe at both ends provides a natural, elegant finish.

Because the yarn tails are worked directly into the fringe, there is nothing to weave in at all. The size is completely adjustable — use any yarn weight and simply add or remove chains to change the width, or work more rows to lengthen the scarf. A free YouTube video teaches the Overlay Mosaic Crochet technique, the anchored double crochet stitch, and how to add the fringe.

The pattern is written in US crochet terminology and includes full row-by-row written instructions and two mosaic crochet charts, plus step-by-step photos for key techniques.
