Gull Wings Scarf

knit scarf

Inspired by the pattern, EZ 100th Anniversary PI Shawl: Gull Wings, this scarf is sure to become one of your favorites! The pattern is written with 2 sizes: small and large, for more styling and wearing options!

This pattern is written and charted. It is started at the center back with a provisional cast on and worked to one end. Then the 2nd half is worked from the live stitches of the provisional cast on to the other end. The lace scarf is worked mostly in stockinette stitch with garter stitch on the left and right edges to minimize curling.

I used 72 grams/275 yards of yarn for the small scarf and 72 grams/425 yards for the large scarf.

A few years ago, when I was a newer knitter, I saw the inspirational shawl on Ravelry and I didn’t feel that I had the skills necessary to knit either the full circle shawl or the half circle shawl. But I loved the stitch patterns so much that I decided to design a scarf with those stitch patterns, and my Gull Wings Scarf was born! I hope you enjoy this scarf as much as I do!

Unforgettable Smocked Cowl or Scarf

knit cowl

This cowl (or scarf) is quick to knit with only 1 skein of yarn. The beautiful colors of the yarn make it perfect to wear with any outfit. Wear the cowl in a long loop or double it up for a close-fitting cowl to keep your neck warm!

The pattern includes written instructions, along with a chart for the stitch pattern used. A written and photo tutorial is included in the pattern for the smocking stitch that is used.

Also included in the pattern are written instructions, as well as a chart, for grafting the beginning and end (in pattern) to form the cowl. Knowledge of grafting is suggested to knit the smocked cowl. If you’re unfamiliar with grafting, the smocked scarf can be knit without grafting instead!

If a longer and/or wider cowl/scarf than 5” wide x 36” circumference/long is desired, 2 skeins of yarn may be used instead of one.

I hope you enjoy knitting this fun cowl or scarf!

Knit Mosaic Scarf

knit mosaic scarf

This scarf is made in the mosaic knitting technique in which one color is used across the row and the specified stitches of the opposite color are slipped instead of knitting them, creating the vertical lines. Mosaic knitting is quite easy and satisfying!

The mosaic scarf is made with 1 ball of #226 Black and 1/2 ball of hand-dyed #201 Winter White (or any contrasting color). Note: This was my first attempt at dyeing yarn, which you can read about in my blog post. The blog post includes a link to my 12 page pdf tutorial on dyeing yarn with Easter Egg dyes.

Since I didn’t want the hand-dyed yarn to pool, I decided to design a mosaic scarf with it. It worked out great and there was absolutely NO pooling!

The scarf can easily be made wider by adding another pattern repeat and it can be made longer by working more repeats, as well.

The pattern includes both written instructions and a mosaic knitting chart.

The length is customizable and allows for every bit of the 200-300 yards of yarn to be used. If a larger scarf/shawl is desired, just keep on crocheting with more yarn to the size you want!

This quick project looks absolutely fabulous with color-changing yarn! It’s a relaxing crochet project that you’ll finish in no time!!!

Mom’s Favorite Baby Blanket

baby blanket

What fun it is to crochet a blanket for a new baby! This baby blanket is designed after the baby blanket that my mom loved to make! However, this blanket is much easier to crochet! My mom’s favorite baby blanket was worked in strips, but this blanket is worked in rows. My mom’s favorite baby blanket had over 250 ends to weave in, plus the strips had to be seamed together. This blanket has only 40 ends to weave in and no seaming! That’s a huge improvement!

The pattern includes complete written instructions, as well as symbol crochet charts for right-handed and left-handed crocheters. There are 2 pdfs that you’ll receive with this pattern purchase. One has 14 pages with minimal photos. The other has 30 pages with over 90 step-by-step photos! You can choose which one you want to print out!

Use the colors shown or any colors you’d like to customize your baby blanket! Or use heavier yarn and a larger hook to make a full-size afghan instead!
