Inset Mosaic Crochet Video & Free Charts

There are several styles/methods for doing Mosaic Crochet. In my previous Mosaic Crochet video, I taught you how to do Overlay Mosaic Crochet. In my new video, I’ll teach you everything you need to know to successfully do the Inset Mosaic Crochet method.

Inset Mosaic Crochet differs from Overlay Mosaic Crochet because Inset is worked with 2 rows of each color instead of 1. Because of that, you won’t need to finish off each row, creating tails/ends to deal with by weaving them in, turning them into fringe or crocheting a double border.

Both Overlay and Inset Mosaic Crochet are worked with 2 contrasting colors of yarn. You can use a DK weight, worsted weight or whatever weight yarn you desire.

This is a fabulous method of Mosaic Crochet! So if you’d like to learn it, check out my YouTube video. I also have a FREE download for the swatch charts that I used in the video, along with written directions for the swatch. You can find that download on my free patterns page.

Happy Mosaic Crocheting to all of you!

Susan

  1. So where do I find the free inset method patterns. ????
I can’t locate them. I’ve been going around and around like a dog chasing its tail.
I’m new to all this mosaic crochet. I would love some free charts and patterns of the inset method to practice on. I don’t like all the trailing tails in the other method.

    1. Del,
The free swatch charts and written directions can be found here: https://thecrochetarchitect.com/downloads/inset-mosaic-crochet-swatch-charts-written-directions/. All you have to do is create an account on my website and then you’ll be able to add the free pdf for the charts and written instructions to your cart and check out. Then my website will take you to your download history where you can click on the file you’ve purchased and download it directly from there.
I have a YouTube video for an Overlay Mosaic Crochet technique that leaves very little tails. I call it my COM technique, which stands for Continuous Overlay Mosaic. You can watch that video to learn this technique here: https://youtu.be/fgdFlkafsdo. I assume you’ve already watched my Inset Mosaic Crochet video, but if not, you can find it here: https://youtu.be/p12n8m_u7zo.
      Happy Mosaic Crocheting to you!
      Susan

    1. Dee,
The paid pattern, “Flight of Stairs Scarf”, includes the chain/stitch multiple so you can make your scarf any length you desire. You can also make your scarf any width you’d like by repeating Rows 3-6 as many times as you desire. If you choose to purchase this paid pattern, I’d be happy to answer any more questions you have about the pattern. I’m always happy to help my customers and other crocheters!
      Happy crocheting,
      Susan Lowman
