This Mosaic Crochet Rug design was inspired by Japanese Sashiko embroidery patterns. It is worked in the Spike DC Mosaic Crochet technique, with one color used across each row. Each row is worked on the right side, beginning and ending each row. After crocheting the rows in this rug, extra strands of yarn are added on the left and right edges to turn the tails/ends into fringe, so there are no ends to weave in! With this fabulous Mosaic Crochet technique, the rug is completely reversible!
This rug is made with super bulky (#6) weight yarn. The pattern includes full written instructions, as well as a chart and many step-by-step photos. Two downloads are included: one with the extra photos and one without (for using less ink/toner when printing the pattern). This pattern is written in a short style (with information about how to read this style of pattern), for ease of following the pattern. Here is a sample of that style:
“With RS facing, join MC1 with sc in first st; *[SPdc, ch, sc 2] twice, SPdc, ch, sc, ch,…”
